Eskom to lease land to private investors for renewable energy generation: NUMSA reaction

Eskom has started an auction process to make the land surrounding its power stations in Mpumalanga available to private investors for renewable energy generation. The government says the 36,000 hectares of Eskom-owned land will be available for lease in a competitive bidding process and will be offered to the private sector for purposes of generating electricity. This means that private sector companies can develop their own power generation plants for own consumption or for sale to third parties. NUMSA spokesperson Phakamile Hlubi-Majola joins us.
