Emotional Labor: I am not in the Least Bit Evil

Emotional Labor: I am not in the Least Bit Evil

Rise and shine. The world is mine.

Let’s get into Emotional Labor.

Emotional labor is the process of managing feelings and expressions to fulfill the emotional requirements of a social space.

Those of us actively correcting and responding to hate in social spaces are doing TONS of emotional labor!

Are we some sort of heros? No!

Emotional Labor has to be a WE thang and never a ME thang!

It’s all of our jobs collectively to check and correct occurrences of hate the best way we can and as we see fit without causing further harm.

I will never choose to be anything less than a liberator and an abolitionist.

In choosing to embody that, I have to accept the fact that even my oppressors need liberating.

That’s where the Emotional Labor becomes heavy and confusing.

The shit gets draining at some point because during this process you have to question your own morals, value, ethics, and boundaries at every occurrence.
