In this video we will tell and show you about a steam snowplow from the Swiss mountains.
It is clear that if a little bit of snow is scattered, then the usual train or locomotive is not afraid of it. The train can gradually advance if the snow is not wet and not higher than human knees. Sometimes a bucket is attached to the nose of the train so that it rakes the snow to the side as it moves.
What to do if the snow is as high as the train? You can't wait for it to get warmer. The train is a means of transportation and it is needed almost every day as to transfer the cargo and people. A steam-powered snowplow comes out to do just that.
A steam snowplow in action is similar to a combine harvester. When snow hits the blades, it absorbs it and throws it a long distance away from the railroad.
Sometimes, like all machinery, it gets clogged and needs to be cleared out a bit. When the snow is heavy and wet, it clogs the blades and has to be cleaned by machinists. With a shovel and a little time, the steam snow blower is ready to run. It continues to fight the snow until it clears the track for the train.
