Number of uncovered Chinese police stations around the world 'growing'

Safeguard Defenders Campaign Director Laura Harth says the number of secret police stations set up around the world by the Chinese government has been “growing” after 54 stations were initially uncovered in 30 countries.

Safeguard Defenders believe these are used by the Chinese Communist Party to crack down on Chinese dissonance and alleged criminals living abroad.

“We found these stations because we’ve been looking into one of the illegal methods that Beijing has increasingly been using in particular since 2018 to crack down on dissent across the world and so actively tracking, targeting dissonance but also alleged criminals," Ms Harth told Sky News host Chris Smith.
