ON THE USE OF ADDITIVES FOR UPGRADING THE LUBRICITY OF ULSD FUEL

Due to the implementation of environmental regulations in the last years, the demand for ultra low sulfur diesel has increased in different regions of the world. The ultra low sulfur diesel used in this work was obtained in a pilot plant through hydrodesulfurization using NiMo/Al2O3 and CoMo/Al2O3 catalysts, which have shown a high level of activity, selectivity and stability in this type of process. To improve the lubricity of this diesel, fuel mixtures with additives of compatible polarities with ultra low sulfur diesel were prepared. For the preparation of mixtures, concentrations of 50, 100, 150, 200, 250 ppm were used for the commercial additive and 1, 3, 6, 9, 12% vol. for the FAME, obtaining improvements from the first concentration in both additives up to a maximum of 16% with the commercial additive and 59% with the FAME.
