Different questions are being raised by fans and followers of Dr John Watts are flooding his series of hugely popular educational videos with queries related to hair transplants and hair growth issues.

In this educational video, noted dermatologist & trichologist and one of the Best Hair Transplant Surgeons in Hyderabad Dr John Watts answers select shortlisted questions of viewers related to hair growth, hair hall and hair transplant.

Srinivas asks: Sir, I am in 10th standard. I was told that milk is good for hair loss control. Is it true? Please advise.

In his response, Dr John Watts informs Srinivas that milk has essential calcium and protein that are regarded as good for hair growth & hair fall control. However, he listed out a few conditions wherein the use of milk would be useless if they are not met.

“Repeated heating or overheating of milk may destroy its essential nutrients. The protein may get denatured as a result. If you use such milk, then you won’t get the desired results,” said Dr John.

Laxman asks: Sir, for four years I neglected my nutritional intake. This affected my hair growth and I faced hair loss. Recently, I have restarted my nutrition intake and I am regularly consuming sprouts. Will it benefit my hair? Please advise.

In his response, Dr John Watts informs Laxman that the nutritional property of sprouts is helpful for hair growth. “It is a good move that you have decided to replenish your lost nutrients as they will help in hair regrowth. New hair will also grow as a result,” said Dr John.

However, he warned Laxman to stay wary of a family history of baldness because if that starts triggering then he may likely lose hair at the top and crown of his scalp. “The hair on your sides and back may remain unaffected in the event of triggering of family/genetic baldness. You must consult your dermatologist in the event you notice such changes,” he explained.

Arun K asks: Sir, I am 22 years old. In June, I underwent a hair transplant surgery with 3000 hair grafts. Before the hair transplant, my hair was black but after the hair transplant, I noticed that part of my hair has turned grey/white. Is the phenomenon due to hair transplants? I am upset and very sad. I plan to approach my doctor but I am confused about what to ask and how I should address my query. Please advise.

In his response, Dr John Watts informs Arun that using 3000 grafts for a hair transplant at the age of 22 years is unusual unless he had severe baldness. He mentioned that the hair transplant procedure has no connection with grey hair. “If your hair has turned white or grey, there is no reason to blame your hair transplant as they are not connected,” he said.

He explained that there could be two probable reasons why he is facing the grey hair problem after the hair transplant.
1. The excess donor hair grafts used from your back have likely resulted in hair thinning. Hence, the grey hair, which might have remained at the donor site, has gained prominence now.
2. The second reason could be the oxidation problem. “You may be deficient in intake of anti-oxidants and that deficiency might be triggering the grey hair on your scalp. If you start medication then you can put an end to the emergence of new grey hair,” said Dr John, while advising Arun to focus and enjoy his healthy hair instead.
