The Graphics on the Oculus (Meta) Quest 2 have always looked a bit soft or blurry to me and I've wished there was a way to make them sharper and clearer. While using Oculus Link and Air Link with my gaming PC I've seen that the display on the Quest 2 is actually capable of some very high resolution graphics which look really sharp and clear but due to the limitations of the Snapdragon XR-2 chipset in the Quest 2 games that run on the headset natively often have to be rendered at a lower resolution to maintain a high/consistent frame rate which helps immensely with your level of comfort while playing VR games. There are things you can and should do to make your experience with the Quest 2 the best it can but but most of the tips I've seen when it comes to improving the visuals on the Quest 2 are things like adjusting the IPD (Inter Pupillary Distance), keeping your headsets lenses clean and adjusting the position of the headset to get the sharpest/clearest picture. But I recently found a way to actually increase the resolution the Quest 2 renders games at using an application called Side Quest. There's a lot of things you can do with SideQuest like side load games onto your Quest headset but it also has some developer tools built in that allow you to do things like increase the headset's refresh rate, turn the Guardian off and increase the Default Texture Size among other things. In this video I share how to register your Oculus account as a developer, install the ADB (Android Debug Bridge) drivers to your PC, and use SideQuest to change the Default Texture Size which will increase the resolution of games on the Quest 2. So if you're ready to see just how good games can look on the Quest 2 then buckle up, because we're ready to go.
