DISCLAIMERS: learning how to backflip is an inherently dangerous activity and you are responsible for your own safety. Beginners should not skip drills that can help develop abilities and spatial awareness. This series is for someone who:
-wants to learn this skill safely
-wants a better technical understanding of how this skill is learned, performed, or spotted
-wants consistent and safe results that can facilitate learning more difficult progressions and variations of the skill; for example twisting or double saltos.

This is our full list of prerequisites and drills needed to learn a standing backflip. It may not be necessary to work on each drill, however, by working on each drill the risk of injury to an athlete will decrease, while self confidence will increase. If attempting a spotted backflip make sure your spotter is a TRAINED and CERTIFIED individual.
