Thousands of demonstrators marched through Paris in protest of the COVID pass and compulsory vaccination, on Saturday, the measures adopted in a bid to stop the spread of the coronavirus.
The protest was also attended and organised by the 'Yellow Vest' movement.
"If a person wants to be vaccinated, he goes to be vaccinated, if another person does not want to be vaccinated, we cannot force him to be vaccinated. We are against the vaccination obligation," said Nejeh Ben Farhat, a member of the 'Yellow Vest' movement and one of the organisers of the protest.
A healthcare worker, Valerie, spoke about her experience with the regulations. "I work at the hospital, currently I'm suspended and without pay since September 6. I have never done any tests (PCR). I did not want the vaccine. I can go back to the hospital the day I get the vaccine," she said.
The Senate has opposed the government's motion to extend the mandatory COVID pass until 31 July 2022, extending it until February 28 instead.
SOT, Mouna, Member Yellow Vest movement (French): "(The Health Pass) it smells like a social credit system, we have the impression that we are in a kind of training, they are looking at how they can manipulate people, see how obedient they can be."
SOT, Patrice, Member of Yellow Vest movement (French): "All the pretexts are to oppose us and for us to submit. The sanitary pass, we have the impression that it will be a kind of subscription when there is a new virus or variant, or a bacterium we will be forced to have injections, otherwise it will no longer be valid, we will no longer be able to work, we will no longer be able to go out. This is unacceptable."
SOT, Nejeh Ben Farhat, Member of Yellow Vest movement, Organiser of Protest (French): "If a person wants to be vaccinated, he goes to be vaccinated, if another person does not want to be vaccinated, we cannot force him to be vaccinated. We are against the vaccination obligation."
SOT, Valerie, Protester (French): "They force us to be vaccinated to continue working, I work at the hospital, currently I am suspended and without pay since September 6. I have never done any tests (PCR) I did not want the vaccine. I can go back to the hospital the day I get the vaccine ."
