Singapore sees drop in nursing workforce for first time in over 15 years amid COVID-19 pandemic

The number of nurses in Singapore fell for the first time in more than 15 years in 2020, as the COVID-19 pandemic made the job more challenging. Overall, there were 572 fewer nurses than in 2019. Despite that drop, more people are looking to get into nursing. Institutes of higher learning have been recording larger intakes, with 2,200 new nurses expected from last year's cohort. More nurses are also looking to stay in the industry by upskilling themselves.
