The nervous system is a network of nerve cells and nerve fibers that transmit information all over the body, in the form of electrical impulses. All in all, the nervous system is an essential component of the human body. Without it, you would not be able to move, sense your surroundings, feel emotions, think or make decisions. Even our vital organs such as the heart, lungs and digestive system rely on it. As such it is a very complex system, with many different components without which we would not be able to function, let alone live!

There are two main parts of the nervous system. These are the central nervous system , and the peripheral nervous system.
