After being stuck in a trap for days, Skye's tummy was not just rumbling, she was STARVING. She was becoming skin and bones, so she cried out for someone to help.. but no one came. She started to lose hope, thinking she would die in that very spot, she did what had to be done. She started chewing at her toes, foot, and ankle until finally she was free from that deathtrap.
When rescuers got the call about the call about a dog in visible pain, there was no time to even think and immediately they leaped into action. However, when they got to the scene it was worse than they could have ever imagined. After rescuing for many years there aren't many things that leave rescuers speechless, but seeing a starving dog chewed her own foot off shocked everyone.
After being rescued, Skye was rushed to a specialty surgical vet to attempt to save her leg. Her saviors hoped something could be done for this poor girl and that maybe, just maybe she could eventually get a prosthetic and live as much of a normal life as possible. Sadly, due to infection being so severe Skye will likely have to have her whole leg amputated to her hip.
Skye's life will never be the same because of that trap she accidentally got stuck in, but has proven herself resilient and will fight to heal from what has happened. She may lose her leg, but what's most important is that she is still breathing. She is alive because she fought to survive!
