NSW Police Minister David Elliott says there is “no silver bullet” when it comes to fighting COVID-19, but police have told him the new measures installed in Sydney LGAs of concern will “make policing easier”.
The New South Wales government has installed a curfew between 9 pm and 5 am in the 12 LGA’s of concern – a measure which comes into effect on Monday.
“The police have said to me that this will make policing a lot easier,” Mr Elliott told Sky News host Chris Smith.
“Particularly given that in those LGAs, a lot of the transmissions are occurring because the people have just ignored the house-to-house ban.
“So, I get it, I get the reason behind the police request.”
