The world is filled with depressing and disheartening stories and for a a journalist, as they say, all bad news is good news and no news is definitely very bad news. And be as it may be, good and positive stories are often hard to come by. But today, a story that caught my attention is that of a 22 year old boy from Sonipat in Haryana.

Avnish Chhikara, a son of a poor farmer in Sonipat has landed a job worth a whopping 67 lakhs from none other than one of the world's biggest tech giants Amazon.

Avnish who is a passout from the modest Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology in a place called Murthal in Sonipat is the son got his dream job - thanks to his perseverance and consistent hardwork.

Avnish completed his B-tech studies by giving home tutions to many students and toiled relentlessly to pay for his fees. His father doubles up as a driver besides farming and clearly couldn't afford the fees for his son's higher education. But Avnish overcame the challenges and ultimately made not just his poor parents proud but also the entire city by achieving a rare feat of finding a job at Amazon.

And Avnish's rise has been meteoric but also slow and steady. He used to study for 10 hours a day after finishing his engineering classes. During the pandemic, when the world went through its toughest times ever, things started looking for Avnish. His hard work paid off when he applied for an internship at Amazon and got through. Did you know that his internship at Amazon itself paid him a stipend of a massive 2 lakh 40 thousand rupees a month. This itself works out to over 28 lakhs
per annum.

But he was in for another big treat when the company offered him a full time position with a package of 67 lakhs which can go up to 1 crore per annum.

Congratulating Avnish, university vice-chancellor Prof Anayath said that he was proud that one of thier students had acheived such success. He hoped this could be an inspiration for others too.
